Smoking Cessation Aids

Acupuncture

Acupuncture is a form of treatment that can be used to help smokers stop smoking. It has been shown to help with withdrawal symptoms, which include irritability, restlessness, and cravings. It can also help a person to relax and reduce stress. A study conducted by the University of Oslo found that subjects who received acupuncture experienced fewer cravings than those who did not receive acupuncture. Acupuncture has also been shown to decrease anxiety and other symptoms associated with quitting smoking.

Patients were evaluated for various outcomes before and after acupuncture, including abstinence rate, number of cigarettes smoked daily, and exhaled carbon monoxide levels. Acupuncture was administered by a licensed acupuncturist to smokers who had been diagnosed with nicotine addiction. The studies also included hypnotherapy sessions conducted by clinical researchers and psychologists with training in aversive smoking.

Laser therapy

Laser therapy is a smoking cessation aid that can help you quit smoking without nicotine withdrawal symptoms. Its effects will last up to six months, and you can have it completed in just one visit. The treatment can be repeated if you are tempted to smoke again. Most of the people who try it report success.

This therapy is inspired by eastern medicine and backed by modern science. It works by stimulating the release of endorphins in the body, which reduce the cravings for nicotine. The nicotine in cigarettes gives smokers a temporary high that lasts for about 20 minutes. The high of the nicotine, however, wears off quickly, and they need another cigarette to raise their endorphin levels again. The physical dependence that a smoker has on nicotine is often a strong motivating factor to quit.

Electro stimulation

The use of electro stimulation as a smoking cessation aid is still experimental. This research is designed to determine the effectiveness and safety of this treatment by examining the effects of the device on smokers' smoking behavior. The study will use a randomized, double-blind design and be conducted over a six-week period. It will also include follow-up assessments at four months.

The study's aims include the impact of a 20-Hz rTMS dose on nicotine craving and cigarette consumption. The study also aims to identify the best way to target the stimulation site and minimize the effects of the treatment. It will also include data on non-compliance, participant burden, and acquisition of cognitive-behavioral skills.
